National Workshop on Community Midwife Qualifying Exam
The federal nursing advisor, provincial directors/deputy directors of nursing, community midwife (CMW) tutors, and controllers from provincial Nursing Examination Boards (NEBs) and a group of stakeholders, including representatives from MAP, UNFPA, UNICEF and PAIMAN, participated in a 2 day workshop convened by Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and sponsored by TACMIL September 10-11th. Ms. Della Sherratt, international midwifery consultant, led a review of issues needed to insure that examinations are fair, just and equitable.A consultant presented preliminary findings of a recent UNFPA funded review of NEBs.Stakeholders and examiners who have participated in the first round of CMW examinations shared their experience.Participants engaged in group work to determine issues which must be addressed in order to be able to design, implement and monitor a quality, safe, fair, just and equitable examination for CMWs.
