Clinical Training Manager

The TACMIL (Technical Assistance in Capacity building in Midwifery, Information & Logistics) project managed by Abt Associate Inc., is recruiting a local, medium-term Associate to work  in strengthening in-service training, knowledge and skills of midwifery tutors and midwifery clinicians. Terms of this position will begin immediately and will finish by November 30,2009.

Scope of Work

The Clinical Training Manager will report directly to Senior Nursing/Midwifery Advisor (SNMA) and work with current project staff in implementing clinical training component of TACMIL project :

Specifically, the training advisor will work with the current project staff to:

  • Support medical and midwifery staff in Centers of Excellence and other training sites in adopting current evidence-based, best intrapartum, newborn and infection prevention clinical practices by a variety of methods including on the job training, clinical mentoring, in-service teaching.
  • Coordinate with other project staff to support and strengthen in-service courses taught by master trainers in provincial sites and support provincial health staff in evaluation and follow up of those who participate in the clinical trainings.
  • Provide inputs for training manuals and curriculum, as needed and review of pre-existing curricula.
  • Serve as a technical resource for clinical trainings, workshops and other project activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports pertaining to training.
  • Facilitate and participate in regular contacts with partners including provincial/district health personnel, other bilateral projects and MNCH Cell.
  • Evaluate the performance of the trainees and the training process on an ongoing process.
  • Participate with the project team in collection and analysis of data, and in the development of the evaluation process and tools

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Current clinical skill in normal obstetrics
  • Previous experince working with USAID or other internationally funded health project
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability be a team player
  • Fluency in English and Urdu, both written and spoken
  • Should be proficient in computers
  • Willingness to travel frequently
  • Immediate availability

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum 5-10 years of work experience
  • MBBS Degree or MScN (with RN/RM) is compulsory
